Services and Resources
The Senior Centers partners with several non-profit agencies, volunteers and other organizations to provide a variety of expanding services to meet the needs of the 50 and Better community.
If you don’t see a particular service, please call the senior center to speak to the Care Manager, who may have additional resources.
Services include: AARP, Alzheimer’s Support, CC Cafe, Taxi Scrips, HICAP, Home Match, Legal Assistance, Scholarships Memory Screening, Notary, Pranic Healing, Vision Support
AARP DRIVER SAFETYDuring COVID-19, this service will be temporarily suspended.This course is taught on the 1st and 2nd Wednesday every other month from 9:00a.m. -1:00p.m. Cost for AARP members: $15; cost for non members: $20. Call to register. | ||
ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP Jenny Lind of Senior Helpers will provide extensive training and experience in providing the right level of individual care and support. Her goal is to create a positive environment and activities that focus on what the group is able to do, not what they can no longer do. As the leading industry experts in Alzheimer’s and dementia care, you can trust Senior Helpers to make your loved one’s life much easier and more enjoyable. This meeting is open to those family who have elderly love ones suffering from Alzheimer or another form of dementia. Caring for them can take a tremendous toll on your physical and emotional well-being. This group meets every 4th Wednesday of the month. Next meeting is August 26 from 2:00-3:30pm. CC Café and care managementCC Café is for adults 60+ and younger spouses and seniors. During the COVID19 pandemic, meals are distributed every Thursday at the Concord Senior Center from 11:00am until 12:30pm. Seniors receive 5 frozen meals. Registration is required prior to starting the program. Contact the Café at (925) 825-1488 Monday thru Friday between 9-11:30am for more information and a menu. | ||
get around taxiDuring COVID-19, this service will be temporarily suspended.Program is available to Concord residents and 65 years and older. Applications will be accepted weekdays from 10:00am-12:00noon at the center. Each book is $15 with a scrip value of $30. Registered seniors may purchase a maximum of 2 books per month. HEALTH INSURANCE COUNSELING AND ADVOCACY PROGRAM (HICAP)For now, HICAP has a one-on-one counseling session option by calling 925-655-1393 or the number on the schedule for the specific site if one is listed. HOME MATCH BY COVIAThrough civic partnerships with the City of Concord, Home Match connects qualifying roommates with homeowners to create housing opportunities with real benefits. Home Match Contra Costa County is still taking new applications for both home providers and home seekers. LEGAL ASSISTANCE & ADVAnce healthcare direct6ivesCurrently there is no lawyer on site. For legal assistance call Contra Costa Senior Legal Services at (925) 609-7900 or email legalhelp@ccsls.org. CCSLS is a private, non-profit agency that has been providing free legal services to seniors since 1976.FREE Legal clinic on Advanced Healthcare Directives (AHCD). For age 60 and older residing in Contra Costa County. You do not need to leave your home. Your AHCD can be prepared over the phone. Next session is scheduled on Thursday, August 20th by appointment only 9:15-12:15pm. Attorneys and staff will “meet” over the telephone with you one-on-one. The attorney and staff will review the AHCD with you and they will complete a FREE AHCD tailored to your wishes. The completed AHCD will be mailed to you after your appointment. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMFor adults 50+ residing in Concord who wish to participate in the Senior Center Program. Approved applicants receive a maximum of $100 per individual, per year with $5 co-pay. VISION SUPPORTDuring COVID-19, this in-person support group will be temporarily suspended. If you want to attend a group meeting, the Hearing Loss Association of America runs a virtual meeting on Saturday mornings at 10am. Registration is required. Visit https://www.hearinglossdv.org/. |
