Public invited to Concord budget workshop May 11
The Concord City Council will hold a budget workshop on Tuesday evening, May 11 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at the Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Dr. The public is invited to attend.
The economic recession is having a devastating impact on Concord's General Fund budget. Sales tax and property tax revenues, which comprise 66 percent of the General Fund, have experienced unprecedented double-digit declines in the last two years. At the workshop, the City Council will hear proposals for closing the City's structural budget gap of more than $12 million.
The budget workshop and hearings will be televised live on Concord Cable TV channel 28 (Comcast) and 29 (Astound) and are available on AT&T U-verse (Channel 99). The broadcasts are also available online from the City of Concord home page at www.cityofconcord.org, both in real time and archived for future viewing. To view the meeting live, select "Watch Concord Cable TV" in the "Video and TV" box.
Two public hearings on the budget are scheduled for Tuesday evenings, June 1 and 22. Both will be held in the City Council Chambers and will begin at 6:30 p.m.
