Concord residents sought to serve on commissions, committee

Concord residents are invited to apply for open positions on three City of Concord commissions and one committee. The Commission on Aging is seeking three members and the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission is seeking two members. All will serve four-year terms ending June 30, 2019. The Community Services Commission is seeking four members to serve two-year terms ending June 30, 2017, and three members to serve four-year terms ending June 30, 2019.

The Concord Pleasant Hill Health Care District Grant Committee is seeking three members to serve two-year terms ending June 30, 2017 and two members to serve four-year terms ending June 30, 2019.

The deadline for applications is Friday, May 22 at 5 p.m. Application forms are available on the City's website at www.cityofconcord.org/bcApplications.

Commission on Aging members act as a resource to identify, improve, and develop services and opportunities for senior citizens in Concord. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Concord Senior Center, 2727 Parkside Circle.

The Parks, Recreation and Open Space Committee advises the City Council on matters related to public parks, open space, recreation and youth; reviews and recommends Council action to develop, modify, and/or improve City parks; promotes recreation and park programs, assesses park and recreation needs, and recommends capital improvement projects and fees.

Community Services Commission members identify housing, neighborhood and social services needs within the community; review funding requests, advising the City Council on the allocation of Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) monies for programs and projects; and monitor the performance of funded programs. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Drive.

The Concord Pleasant Hill Health Care District Grant Committee reviews funding requests and advises the City Council on the allocation of Concord Pleasant Hill Health Care District funds.
