One dog park reopens, second dog park closed for maintenance

Concord's Baldwin Dog Park at 2700 Parkside Circle has reopened after being closed while a comprehensive annual maintenance project was completed. Newhall Dog Park at 1351 Newhall Parkway is now closed for maintenance and will reopen in eight to ten weeks, depending on the weather. During the closures, turf areas are aerated, seeded, organically fertilized and top-dressed with organic mulch to generate the best possible results in the shortest period of time to limit inconvenience to the community. Concord's two dog parks are consistently the most visited amenities in the City's park system and provide the community with safe areas for dogs to exercise and socialize off-leash. Because of the heavy use, they require an annual closure so that new turf can be planted; the closure is in effect until the new turf becomes established.
