Susanne Meyer Brown chosen as Concord’s new City Attorney

Yesterday evening, the Concord City Council authorized Mayor Hoffmeister to execute an employment agreement with Susanne Meyer Brown to serve as Concord's new City Attorney. This marks the conclusion of an executive recruitment by Bob Murray & Associates to fill the position.

Brian Libow, of Libow & Wellman Municipal Law, has served as Concord's Interim City Attorney since November 2015. Ms. Brown will assume the role of City Attorney on Thursday, April 14.

Since 2012, Ms. Brown has served as legal counsel to the City of Concord Planning Commission, as well as numerous City departments and divisions -including the Planning Division, Engineering Division, Building Division, Economic Development Division, Housing/CDBG Division, Purchasing, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation.

Ms. Brown is a senior-level municipal attorney with nearly 20 years of legal experience, with a focus on municipal law, land use, and transactional matters. She received her law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and her Bachelor of Arts degree (Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Pomona College.

"I am honored at the faith and trust that the City Council has placed in me, and look forward to continuing to serve the City in my new capacity," said Ms. Brown.
