Concord hosts educational Rental Housing Workshop

The City of Concord Housing and Economic Development Committee will host a Rental Housing Workshop on Monday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, 1950 Parkside Dr. Vice Mayor Ron Leone and Councilmember Dan Helix serve on the committee.

After hearing from renters that the monthly rates for their apartments were being greatly increased, sometimes month after month, the City Council referred the issue to the committee. At the workshop, a panel of speakers will provide an overview of rental conditions in Concord and the Bay Area, as well as points of view from representatives of the California Apartment Association and Tenants Together, an organization representing renters. The goal is to provide information on the issue to elected officials, City staff and the community. The entire City Council will host a second workshop with a similar format at its meeting on Tuesday, July 26.
