Concord seeks members for two committees

At the Jan. 10 meeting, the Concord City Council announced the recruitment to fill positions on two committees. The first is an unexpected vacancy for the business representative on the Measure Q Oversight Committee. The deadline for applications is Friday, Feb. 10 at 5 p.m. The second recruitment is to fill five positions on the newly-formed Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. The deadline for applications is Friday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m.

The Measure Q Oversight Committee consists of five members with at least one representing the business community, at least three being Concord residents, with the fifth from either category. The committee reviews the City's annual Measure Q audit report and provides recommendations to the City Council on the use of Measure Q revenue. Measure Q is the half-cent sales tax passed by voters in 2010 and extended in 2014.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee was created by the City Council on Jan. 10 to review transportation capital projects including roadway, pedestrian and bicycle improvements and provide input to staff on Complete Streets features and conformity with the City's Bicycle, Pedestrian and Safe Routes to Transit Plan. The BPAC consists of five members serving four-year terms. Initial terms will be staggered with three appointments serving four-years and two appointments serving two-years. Members must be Concord residents and must express interest and enthusiasm for Bicycle, Pedestrian and Safe Routes to Transit Plans. The BPAC meets quarterly and more frequently as needed.
