Free emergency response training offered in Concord

Sign-ups are now being taken for free emergency preparedness classes, offered by the City of Concord. The next session of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training begins Thursday, March 30 and meets for six evening sessions from 6:30 to 10 p.m., concluding with a hands-on training exercise. Participants must be at least 16 years of age. Sessions are held at the Concord Police Department, 1350 Galindo St.

CERT participants are taught basic fire safety, disaster preparedness, basic medical training, light search and rescue, CERT organization, and disaster physiology. Through training, CERT members become valuable resources to their families and neighbors in the event of an emergency.
