Concord advisory bodies seek members, appointments announced


The Concord City Council recently announced the opening of the recruitment periods for two advisory bodies and made appointments to two commissions and a committee. Applications are now being accepted for the Concord Pleasant Hill Health Care District Grant Committee and the Concord Pavilion Community Outreach Committee.

The Concord Pleasant Hill Health Care District Grant Committee is seeking four members, two members to serve two-year terms ending June 30, 2019 and two members to serve four-year terms ending June 30, 2021. The committee reviews funding requests and advises the City Council on the allocation of Concord Pleasant Hill Health Care District funds. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month and more often in the spring.

The Concord Pavilion Community Outreach Committee is seeking one member to serve a two-year term ending February 28, 2019. The committee provides guidance to the Pavilion General Manager on outreach efforts to attract applications from local schools, cultural organizations and the community to bring additional community events to the Pavilion which will expand the use of the venue beyond the concert season.

The deadline for receipt of applications by the City Clerk is Friday, August 25 at 5 p.m. Application forms and more information about each advisory body are available on the City’s website at www.cityofconcord.org/BCApplications.

Last month, the City Council made the following appointments: Incumbents Ben Hornstein, Delores Leon and Melvin Lee were reappointed to the Commission on Aging for a four-year term ending June 30, 2021. Charles Rogers and Mei Lee were also appointed to the commission for the same four-year term. David Afinowicz, Paula Johnstone, Fuad Omran and Nancy Sansom were appointed for two-year terms ending June 30, 2019.

Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission incumbents Christopher Lucas, Michael Miller and Wayne Schafer were re-appointed for four-year terms ending June 30, 2021.

Michael Handlin was appointed to the Concord/Pleasant Hill Health Care District Grant Committee for a four-year term ending June 30, 2021.
