Teens, young adults sought for City of Concord commission

The City of Concord is currently accepting applications from teens and young adults ages 13 to 21 who are interested in serving on the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission (PROSC). The commission advises the City Council on matters related to public parks, open space, recreation, and programs for youth. Meetings are held monthly on Wednesday evenings for approximately two hours at the Concord Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Dr. The deadline for submitting an application is Thursday, October 12.

Former PROSC youth member Angela Freitag was recently recognized for her service to the community through her participation on the commission, where she was able to provide a valuable perspective on the initial proposal for the Disk Golf Course at Hillcrest Park. She starts college this month at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Each PROSC youth member serves a one-year term. Members must live in Concord or attend school in Concord. Applications are available from the City's website at www.cityofconcord.org/BCApplications. For more information, contact Program Manager Kathryn Monroy, (925) 671-3074.
