Residents offered discounts on solar, zero-emission vehicles

The City of Concord is participating in SunShares, a group buying program to offer residents discounts on rooftop solar installations, zero-emission vehicles, and home vehicle charging stations. A ree workshop about how to participate will be held on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Drive. The workshop is presented in partnership with the cities of Walnut Creek and Lafayette.

Homeowners, renters, and drivers will learn about clean energy options and how to benefit from SunShares. Last year, SunShares helped 145 homeowners make the switch to solar. Registration is available through Concord is one of the 'Top 5' partners with 30 households participating this year to date.

Residents have until Nov. 10 to sign up for the solar program, and must sign a contract with a selected solar provider by Dec. 31 to qualify for the discount. Solar installations are offered at a 15 to 25 percent discount off of market rate installations. Partner car dealerships offering zero-emission vehicles, such as the Toyota Prius and Nissan Leaf, will also offer substantial discounts to residents of participating organizations that register via the SunShares website.
