Applications open for spring Concord Community Institute

The City of Concord announces an opportunity for those who live, work or own a business in Concord to learn more about the City.

The Concord Community Institute (CCI) invites participants to take part in lively discussions and interactive activities as they meet elected officials and staff, learn about how the City operates and how decisions are made. Launched in the fall of last year, this is the second CCI offering. Going forward, the City plans to offer CCI twice a year, in the spring and in the fall, giving many residents a chance to participate.

Seven sessions will be held from April 14 to May 19. The first and last sessions will be held on Saturday during the day while the remaining five sessions will be held Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m.

At the first session on April 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., staff will present an Introduction to Government at the Civic Center, followed by a bus tour of the city and lunch. The next five sessions will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. at various City facilities. Topics include public safety, the Concord Naval Weapons Station Reuse Plan, economic development efforts, community services (Parks & Recreations, Public Works), budgeting and finance, and the development review process. The final session on Saturday, May 19 will include a wrap-up and graduation certificate presentation.
